Video: The Hawkeye fiasco and the Limerick minors got a mention on Sky Sports News today

They didn’t have a reporter stationed outside the Gaelic Grounds for the day or anything like that but it’s a start.

Such are the demands on a station that provides sports news virtually around the clock every day of the year that almost any sport you can think of has been featured on Sky Sports News at this stage, but it is perhaps a sign of the growing influence of GAA that the one of the biggest stories of the week was featured on the channel earlier today.

The controversy over the Hawkeye malfunction that cost Limerick a point during the All-Ireland minor semi-final defeat to Galway on Sunday is still ongoing after it was confirmed that Limerick would be lodging an appeal with the Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC), despite word from Galway that they will not be offering a replay to the Treaty County.

It is still a pretty big talking point in GAA circles this week, so big in fact that it even warranted a mention on the news bar on the bottom of the screen on Sky Sports News earlier today, even it was only for a few brief seconds.

That’s only the start though; keep an eye out interviews through a rolled down car window with JBM and Davy Fitz in the run-up to the hurling final next month and expect Seanie Johnston’s potential return to the Cavan set-up to figure prominently in Bryan Swanson’s GAA Transfer Centre around the turn of the year.
