Weekends without the Soccer Saturday crew won’t be the same for the next few months, but here’s a clip of their funniest bits from the season to tide you over for the time being.
Apart from the fact that there will be no live Premier League football for the next three months, one of the worst things about the end of the season at the weekend is that we’ll all have to fill the void left by Jeff Stelling and the Soccer Saturday crew on Saturday afternoons.
Stelling and the likes of Matt Le Tissier, Paul Merson, Matt Le Tissier, Phil Thompson and Charlie Nicholas somehow make hearing updates about all the action on a Saturday more entertaining than actually watching football itself, with the result that Soccer Saturday is now essential viewing for footie fans of a weekend.
We’ll have to wait until August until the lads are back on our screens again and although the montage of the funniest bits from the season just gone will serve as a painful reminder of just how long they’re going to be off the air, it also serves to illustrate what brilliant entertainment they provide on a regular basis.
