Fair play to the MLS, this is really good stuff.
An awful lot of footie fans adopted the USA as their second – and in some cases, first – team during the World Cup thanks to their battling performances and the heroics of Tim Howard and the MLS is likely to garner a bigger worldwide audience this season as a result.
In an effort to further sell a league which is attracting more and more high profile players by the season, the MLS have produced an excellent promotional video using a Ferris Bueller theme, with Mike Magee of the Chicago Fire starring as the main protagonist this time around.
Some of the most famous scenes from the movie have been brilliantly replicated here with some well-known faces from the MLS, including a turn by Thierry Henry as the snobby maître d in the restaurant and Bruce Arena as a neighbour who’s had quite enough of Magee’s antics.
The absence of our own Robbie Keane is a bit of a disappointment but that’s only minor nit-picking on our part; besides that it gets a big thumbs up as far as we’re concerned.
