Chin up Joe Hart, you might have had a bad day yesterday but not half as bad as Freiburg ‘keeper Oliver Baumann.
‘Keepers often eat themselves up if they make one bad error in a game, so we can only imagine what Freiburg netminder Oliver Baumann is going through after he was at fault for all three goals in his side’s 3-0 defeat to Hamburg in the Bundesliga yesterday.
In a mishap very similar to Hart’s error that allowed Fernando Torres in to win the game for Chelsea yesterday, Baumann came rushing out of his goal in the first half but missed the ball completely and allowed Maximilian Beister to give Hamburg the lead.
Having obviously not learned his lesson, he repeated that mistake in even more comical fashion when trying to bring the ball back into his penalty area in the second half but only succeeded in handing a goal on a plate to Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
Baumann’s misery was complete when he failed to handle a straightforward shot and was punished by Rafael van der Vaart for Hamburg’s third, completing his quota of a season’s worth of comedy errors in a single game.
Who’d be a goalkeeper, eh?
