Perhaps it was the Armagh team at the turn of the millennium that really embraced the tight-fitting GAA jersey, but these days it is far more widespread.

Ever since, teams right around the country have gone for the figure-hugging approach, a far cry from the U-12 days when the club jersey was about four sizes too big. Those were indeed simpler times.
And the craze naturally has spread from senior level, though perhaps a teenager’s body still developing at minor level poses obvious issues. Which would explain why this Wexford footballer was struggling to pull his jersey as tightly as possible for the team photo prior to the Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Football Championship quarter-final last Saturday afternoon.
The jersey is a little loose for his liking so gives it a good stretch for the team photo prior to the Model County’s eight point defeat to the men from the capital.
In fairness, he isn’t the first to do it and certainly won’t be the last. Collars up and standing on the tippy-toes for the pre-match snap are some older traditions that will most likely never die out.
And why the Dallas theme song is played in the background is beyond us.
