Vine: On-loan Southampton striker Dani Osvaldo scored this peach of a volley for Inter Milan

He rarely did this at St Mary’s…

There are certain words that football writers like to use in order to hide the true meaning of what they really want to say.

For example, “one for the purists” really means a 0-0 match that would bore the arse off you or “he will be disappointed with that” means the player should never be allowed back into the team because a schoolboy wouldn’t even make that mistake.

The word ‘mercurial’ is one that is often used with Southampton’s on loan striker Dani Osvaldo, mainly because he is talented but seems temperamental to say the least.

The €15.1 signing only managed a handful of goals for the Saints and his time in England was more notable for his tendency to pick fights with teammates.

It seems that his form at Inter Milan has picked up though. Take a look at this gaol against Atalanta.

What a hit.
