Stoke City scored a brilliant goal in a pre-season friendly against Real Betis last night following some great Barcelona-esque tiki-taka football.

Stoke are renowned for their ‘bully the opposition’ tactics and often dominate the set pieces and end up scoring goals in the process. But that tactic has changed with the arrival of Mark Hughes at the helm and here’s the proof…

Last night we saw some gorgeous pass-and-move football before defender Erik Peters eventually got on the end of the low cross to finish off the beautiful team move. They ended up winning the match 2-0 with new signing Bojan grabbing the other goal.

If this brand of sexy football is what we can expect from Stoke in the coming season, does that mean the myth that Lionel Messi can’t do it on a cold Wednesday night in Stoke is a thing of the past?
