This reminds us a little bit of Jack Wilshere’s brilliant goal for Arsenal last season… only better. Wow.

The likes of James Rodriguez and Robin van Persie might beg to differ, but we reckon that the best World Cup goal of the summer wasn’t scored in Brazil, but in Canada at the Women’s Under-20 World Cup last night. Granted, this competition might not be seen by as many eyes as the World Cup itself, but Claire Lavogez’s strike in France’s 5-1 win over Costa Rica last night deserves widespread exposure such was the quality of the strike and the build-up play that preceded it. Lavogez was the last player to touch the ball at the end of what was a lovely, flowing move and what a final touch it was as she waited patiently for the ball to drop before smacking an angled drive off the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the net. Magnifique. Vine via Robyn Hat-tip: Bleacher Report
