Which Irish footballers helped make Avatar and X-Men?

Robbie Keane’s move to LA makes a lot more sense now as the Tallaght man has helped make some of Hollywood’s biggest movies of recent years.

Incredible as it sounds Ireland’s greatest ever striker is part of an investment fund that has produced some of the biggest cinema hits of all time.

According to today’s Sunday’s Independent, Keane is just one of a host of famous names who are involved in a London-based company called Ingenious Investments, whose primary business is backing some of the most expensive, and profitable, films of recent times including James Cameron’s Avatar and superhero flick X-Men.

And Keane is not the only Irish international using his footballing wealth for something other than sportscars and badly-decorated mansions.

John O’Shea and Kevin Kilbane are also involved, as is Keane’s Galaxy team-mate David Beckham, love rat Ryan Giggs, ex-United stars Wes Brown and Nicky Butt plus bad boy Joey barton and John Terry’s ‘friend’ Anton Ferdinand.

Avatar cost €150million to make but netted over €2billion. We don’t know how much the lads put up for the film but they must have made a very tidy profit. X-Men also made some cash for them but they have backed some turkeys too, including the hugely disappointing A-Team and the god-awful Australia.

Still, if Robbie has a strike rate of films to match his rate in green, expect himself and Claudine to be rocking up to the Oscars soon.
