WikiLeaks creator Julian Assange arrested

Julian Assange has been arrested and will appear at Westminster Magistrate’s court later today.

Sky News have reported that the whistleblower presented himself in a police station before being arrested.

The charge is in connection in with an arrest warrant from Sweden over allegations of sexual assaults against him.

The 39-year-old Australian is the creater of website WikiLeaks, which publishes submissions of otherwise unavailable documents.

It controversially released hundreds of thousands of secret US government cables last month.

Assange won the Amnesty International Media award last year, and the Sam Adams Award from Sam Adams Associates for Integrity in Intelligence in 2010.
