Winter’s here as the first Irish snow pictures hit the internet

You’ve probably noticed the drop in temperatures and that means the first snow pictures of the Irish winter are doing the rounds and some are pretty bad.

It’s only November 1 but the first sightings of snow in Ireland are in. Is this the start of a long, hard, cold winter? We sincerely hope not but let’s face it, it’s not a great start.

The first images come from Blarney in Cork, where Newstalk’s Jonathan Healy (@jonathanhealy) tweeted this picture this morning.

Then there was this picture, of the McGillacuddy Reeks that was taken by Conor Cusack and tweeted by @MeteoTimesIRL today. Still, that would be expected considering the altitude.

But it was this picture, from Kilfinane in Limerick today, had us reaching for the duvet. Taken by Grace O’Brien and also tweeted out by @MeteoTimesIRL, it looks like the depths of winter has hit the south-west.

If you are in any of the affected areas, be careful out there.
