Wonderful Westwood wins Nedbank Golf Challenge

Lee Westwood stormed to victory at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa after a fantastic final round of 68.

The Englishman finished eight shots ahead of South African golfer Tim Clark, and nine ahead of Retief Goosen and Miguel Angel Jimenez.

Westwood carded five birdies in his 17 under par round, including a chip-in on the 18th.

He picked up a cheque for €935,000 and is guaranteed to finish the year as world number one.

"I think that's the first time I've chipped in all year," he said. "It's what you call a grandstand finish. It was a good time to do it."

"I've been playing here for 15 years and it's something I've always wanted to win. The finish was tough and I was just pleased to get it done in the end."

Padraig Harrington finished with a 75, ending up 14 shots behind Lee Westwood on 3 under par.
