Let’s face it, once the weather is good all you need to know on holidays is the price of some booze and some grub. We’re here to help.

Zante, or the Greek island of Zakynthos, is one of the best places to spend your next holiday. We told you early this week a few travel essentials and now we’re back with more vital info; how much it will cost to keep you fed and watered.

As you might imagine, hitting the town in Zante is considerably cheaper than a similar night out here. If you just go straight to the bars and clubs you can expect to pay just €2 for a pint in most places.

Bottles of beer will cost you €3 but more likely than not they will be part of deal so you will probably get one thrown in for free. That makes it €1.50 a bottle by our reckoning.

If you fancy something a bit stronger, a shot of spirits and a mixer should set you back €3.50 but again, most places will have a two-for-one deal going so you will really get them for €1.75 apiece.

And even if you have a night off from the sauce, soft drinks will only set you back €2.

But as we know, man cannot live on booze alone, and the cost of food in Zante won’t hurt your pocket either.

Breakfast can be had for as little as €1.50 while if you fancy something a bit more upmarket for the evening with your other half a three-course meal should cost you no more than €20.

And if you decide to have some wine with your meal you won’t be crucified either, as bottles of house wine can be had for around €8.

So as you can see, once you get there, little more than small change should keep you going for the night. Happy days.
