WATCH: 1,000 people broke the Headbanging World Record in honour of Wayne’s World

Paul Moore

Excellent!

There’s no appropriate way to write this article without shoehorning in a stream of references from the brilliant Wayne’s World films.

I’m gonna be frank (ok, can I still be Garth?) because to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Wayne’s World, the city of Aurora, Illinois actually recreated one of the most iconic scenes from the cult-classic.

In a display of precision and choreography that even Del Preston would have been proud of, over 1,000 people synchronised their headbanging to the tune of the iconic Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.

No stairway. Denied!

We’re not sure who the band on stage are – our guess is that it’s either the Jolly Green Giants or the Shitty Beatles – but they got the entire audience to embrace their inner Garth and Wayne for some headbanging madness.

We’re reliably told that the previous Headbanging World Record was set back in 2014 with 320 people. Ex-squeeze me? Baking powder? 320 people!

Ha, if that previous record were an ice cream flavor, it would be pralines and dick.

Take a look at this history making moment. We’re not worthy… we’re not worthy!
