Ever have your package burned by a red hot kettle? Well Peter Schmeichel has, if former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam is to be believed.
Former United and Holland defender Stam has revealed that Schmeichel was once the victim of an unfortunate and painful prank during his time at Old Trafford.
The Great Dane was left writhing in agony after falling victim to an unfortunate prank at the hands of former team-mate Nicky Butt at the club’s old Cliff training ground.
Butt, renowned as the joker in the Manchester United dressing room in the 1990s, crept up behind Schmeichel with a red hot kettle while the giant ‘keeper was on his way into the shower after training.
Butt planned to leave his mark on Schmeichel’s bare rear end by pressing the red hot kettle up against it, but Schmeichel turned around suddenly and as it was too late for Butt to pull out, the tenacious midfielder pressed the kettle against Schmeichel’s exposed member instead.
The incident, which happened over a decade ago, was revealed by Stam after he was asked for his funniest memory of his time at the Red Devils.
“Nicky made a move to put the kettle on to Peter’s ass making the rest of us laugh and some inciting him to do so,” said Stam.
“At the same time Nicky had the audacity to put the kettle forward, Peter turned around to see what was going on and got the hot kettle against his d**k.”
“Peter, who went mad, wrapped a towel around his hip and went after Nicky. Nicky had to run for his life as Peter chased him around the Cliff a few times leaving us in tears from laughing. Unforgettable.”
