Yay! No! Yay! No! Yay! Wait. We're confused...

Yay! No! Yay! No! Yay! Wait. We’re confused…

Ah, Disney/Pixar (Dixar? Pisney?), you give with one giant animated hand and take away with the other.

According to a report from Hollywood in the the aptly-titled Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that Pixar is working on a new Incredibles film – hence our “yay!” – and a new Cars movie – hence our “no!”

Iger was speaking during Disney’s annual meeting of shareholders and said “we have plans for a new Cars movie and on top of that Brad Bird is already working on a great story for a new Incredibles film.”

Pixar fans have long lamented the fact that Cars and Cars 2 are two of the weakest, if not the most weak, films produced by the much-loved animation studio, whereas 2004’s The Incredibles is widely regarded as one of their finest achievements; a more violent, witty and action-packed film compared to much of their other fantastic output.

As ever though, we’ll reserve judgement (for the most part) until the final product is revealed and, with the very welcome news that the Brad Bird, director of The Incredibles, is returning to helm the proposed sequel, here’s hoping that there will be plenty more of the awesome action that we all know and love…
