Something for Joe Schmidt's lads to aim for in Paris on Saturday.

Something for Joe Schmidt’s lads to aim for in Paris on Saturday.

You often hear of horrendous beatings being dished out in soccer and GAA but rarely in rugby, perhaps because it is usually more difficult to score, even against much weaker opposition.

But a side called Dorset Dockers appear to have no trouble in the Dorset & Wilts League Two South, the ninth tier of English rugby. Only formed last year, the Dockers have been bludgeoning teams all season but at the weekend they went to town on a team called Dorchester Seconds.

The final score was 212-0 to the Dockers, who ran in an incredible 32 tries, scored by 16 different players.

The Dockers have won 16 out of 16 so far this season and that 212 point win was the biggest by a British team, smashing the old record of 181-0 held by Llanidloes, who beat Holyhead 181-0 last September.

According to the BBC, who carried the Dockers story today, the world record scoreline in rugby is held by a French Third Division side called Lavardac, who defeated Vergt 350-0 in 1984.

The way the Dockers are going, we reckon they have a shot at that.
