They had a good run…
Sometimes it’s just not meant to be, and tonight was a bridge to far for a spirited Wales side as Portugal swept them aside.
Portugal opened the scoring on 50 minutes with a trademark Ronaldo header and that lead was added to three minutes later when Nani slipped another past Hennessy in the Welsh goal.
Try as Wales might, they couldn’t find a way back into the game, despite Gareth Bale coming close on a few occasions.
Amazingly, this is the first game that Portugal have won in normal time in the whole tournament, yet they’re in the final on Sunday where they will face either France or Germany.
Here’s how people reacted to the result:
Hail Ronaldo!
In fairness, Ronaldo is a magnificent jumper and then header of the ball. Damn him. #WALPOR

There were positives to take from the tournament…
For Wales to have reached the semi-finals is incredible. Far in excess of anything anyone could have imagined. Proud of them. #WAL #WALPOR

The internet can be just cruel sometimes…
Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman walk into a bar.
"Where's Walesy?"
"Oh, get him a pint in. He won't be long." #WALPOR
