Screenshot HQ, an account on TikTok, kicked off the debate by taking to the streets and asking women if they would rather run into a man they didn't know or a bear in the forest.
Out of the seven people presented with the bizarre question, only one said they would rather run into a man.
The video went viral and sparked a lot of debate around the controversial question.

Lots of men commented that they understood why the women would choose a bear, while droves of other women backed the answers from those in the original video.
One male TikTok user wrote: "I get that, you know what to expect from a bear."
Another guy commented: "The comments on this post make me sad I’m sorry yall 😔."
One female user wrote: "I'm terrified of bears. I had a fear of bears from my childhood. THEY SCARE ME TO MY SOUL. And id still choose a bear."
Other TikTok users have since filmed themselves posing the hypothetical question to loved ones.

Would you rather be alone in the woods with a bear or alone in the woods with a man? No, you don’t get to choose the man and you don’t know the man.
