As much as United fans might like to see Scholes, Giggs or Roy Keane back out there on the playing field, it’s not going to happen…
However, their former teammate Juan Sebastian Veron has announced that he will be coming out of retirement to play for his boyhood club Estudiantes (and donating all his pay to the club too).
Veron, who didn’t exactly have the best time at United, retired in 2014 to become chairman of Estudiantes — but promised he would come out of retirement if fans bought 65% of the tickets for the club’s new stadium. The fans made good on their end of the bargain, and now Veron is holding up his own.

He will play in the 2017 Copa Libertadores and continue beyond that, having signed an 18 month contract that will keep him playing with the club until the age of 43.
His first game back could come against German side Bayer Leverkusen in the Florida Cup on Jan. 8.
