The reason for the emergency landing is being reported as a maintenance issue.
A United Airlines flight from Paris to Newark was forced to make an emergency landing in Shannon Airport at around 9.30 this morning.
It was intially unclear why but United Airlines have since clarified the situation, replying to a query on Twitter to say that the flight diverted to Shannon for maintenance.
