A man is believed to have shot himself in front of the White House on Saturday, as reported by the United States Secret Service.
No other injuries have been reported, with the scene now under investigation following a brief lockdown.
President Donald Trump is currently at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. He is believed to have spent his morning playing golf at one of his courses in the state.

The circumstances relating to the shooting are unclear, as the Secret Service note the ‘alleged’ nature of what appears to be a self-inflicted gun shot wound, though they did later reveal that the victim is male and that medical personnel have been attending to him.

The White House was immediately placed on lockdown, however NBC News White House correspondent Geoff Bennett reported that the ‘shelter in place’ at the scene has been lifted, and that an emergency response unit has taped off the area where the apparent shooting unfolded.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley told reporters in Florida: “We’re aware of the incident. The president has been briefed.”
President Trump is expected to return to the White House on Saturday evening.
