A record number of daily cases.
1,276 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Ireland, as well as eight additional deaths.
One of the deaths reported on Saturday is from June, two are from September, and five are from October.
Today’s 1,276 cases is the fourth time in the past seven days that Ireland has set a new highest ever daily total of confirmed cases.
There has now been a total of 1,849 Covid related deaths in Ireland since the beginning of the pandemic, while there has been 48,678 confirmed cases.
278 of Saturday’s cases are in Dublin, while 149 are in Cork, 108 in Meath, 107 in Galway and 80 in Wexford.
The remaining 554 cases are spread across 21 counties.

The median age of today’s cases is 31 years, while 69% are below 45 years of age.
There are currently 260 confirmed cases in hospitals across the country, with 30 confirmed cases in the ICU.
The five day moving average of Covid cases is now 1,072.
Earlier on Saturday, 1,031 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Northern Ireland, from tests on 4,686 individual. Two further deaths were also recorded.
