Stamp collection just got a technological makeover
We’re living in the age of cutting-edge technology, and with that in mind, our national postal service is embracing crypto in a new and exciting way.
That’s right, An Post have produced two crypto stamps – one national and one international, designed by artist Kasia Oźmin using AI technology.
So, what exactly is a crypto stamp? And how does it work? We’ve teamed up with An Post to break down everything you need to know about this innovation.
How it works
You purchase the crypto stamps online. Once the purchase is made, An Post will send the physical Imagine Ireland stamp booklet directly to your door. When it arrives, you’ll find a unique PIN and Public ID. You need these in order to claim the digital NFT version of the stamp.
To claim the NFT, you’ll also need a MetaMask Wallet in order to store it. You can download the app right here. Additionally, you’ll need to get a Ciphers.me account, which you can access here.
Once you have these two set up, you can claim your NFT stamp.
About the stamps
The Imagine Ireland stamps have been designed by artist Kasia Oźmin and they capture an immediately recognisable version of Ireland. The National Stamp blends hyper-reality with potential modes of transport to reimagine urban and rural life. On the stamp, a fantastical train appears to travel through the countryside, almost as if it’s floating on air. The International Stamp, meanwhile, explores the intersection of modern and traditional lifestyles, envisioning new possibilities for urban and rural settings. The generative art used in this project allows for a creative reimagining of housing, blending the familiar with the fantastical to suggest new ways of living in harmony with Ireland’s natural landscapes.
