Are you one of our nation’s last-minute shoppers?

It’s December, and the early birds among us are relaxing with a cup of hot chocolate and a roaring fire, safe in the knowledge that their Christmas shopping is done.

However, for many of us procrastinators, Christmas shopping can be a rush job as we wait till the last minute to head into town and shop what’s left. Or, we jump online and frantically order presents with our fingers crossed, hoping that they’ll be delivered by Christmas Eve.

Sounds like you? Well, turns out you’re not alone.

New research from PayPal’s Festive Spending Snapshot* has shone a light on Ireland’s shopping habits, and as it turns out, people from certain counties are more likely to leave things to the last minute than others.

The study found that the county with the highest proportion of last-minute shoppers – those that leave their Christmas shopping until after the 20th of December – was Monaghan (50%).

This was followed by Offaly shoppers, with 29% of respondents from the faithful county waiting until the few days leading up to Christmas. Kerry and Carlow consumers were almost as last-minute, with 28% and 27% respectively.

Whether you’re a last-minute gift grabber or you prefer a more organised approach, PayPal are here to make online shopping this Christmas easier, safer and more seamless.

Here are just a handful of ways PayPal is transforming your shopping experience this Christmas and beyond:

With PayPal at Checkout, you can enjoy a speedy and convenient experience at purchase, saving you time and effort.

2. Money-saving browser extension

Honey is a browser extension from PayPal that scans for available discounts and coupons when you’re at the checkout.

3. Sending money to friends and family

Whether you’re going in on a big present with friends and family this year, or you just want to gift someone money to spend, PayPal,** comes in handy.

4. The gift of giving

People who shop last-minute might want to think outside the box and donate to their recipient’s favourite charity via PayPal Giving Fund Ireland.

5. Budget tracking

Keep your spending on track (and on time) with the PayPal app, which allows users to check transactions and their spending habits.
