The Rugby World Cup 2023 is inching closer and closer, and we’re gearing up for an exciting few weeks of rugby.
In just a few days, the tournament commences and we’ll get to see some of the world’s best rugby players go head to head in stadiums across France.
Over the next couple of weeks, rugby fans can expect some intense rivalries, impressive play and, of course, the return of the television match official (TMO), who helps the referee make tough calls during the matches.
One rugby player who knows a thing or two about making tough calls is former Irish rugby union star Peter Stringer. Since retiring, Stringer has had his sights set on becoming a TMO – but with a twist.
Instead of analysing action from the rugby pitch, Stringer has become Betway’s real-life TMO, and in a brand new video, we can see him issue penalties for some of life’s most serious offences.
Indeed, this legend of Irish rugby legend is on TMO duties, and he’s not afraid to issue the strictest penalties if the situation calls for it.
Putting empty cartons of milk back in the fridge? That’s a penalty. Scrolling on your phone mid-conversation? You’re getting a yellow card. Microwaving fish in the office canteen? That’s a red card, no doubt about it.

As well as making tough calls from the sidelines of life, Stringer will also be diving headfirst into the Rugby World Cup 2023 as he joins Betway’s portfolio of ambassadors.
