Brought to you by Team Hope
Cast your mind back to Christmas-time during primary school, and between carol services and nativity play rehearsals, one experience in particular likely stands out – filling a Christmas shoebox at school.
It's a process that began in autumn. In fact, you probably saved the box while shopping for new school shoes for this purpose exactly. Over the next few weeks, you'd select little gifts to fill it with, carefully wrap it in Christmas wrapping paper, and send it off with Team Hope, knowing your contribution will brighten the day of a child affected by poverty.
Anyone and everyone can take part in the Christmas Shoebox Appeal, and the process is just as simple and joyful as it was when you were a kid. Simply grab a shoebox, fill it with goodies, wrap it in festive paper. contribute €6 for transport costs and drop it off for delivery. And, as you shop bits and pieces for your box, keep the Four Ws in mind.
Write: Pencils, colouring pencils, notebooks, and other school supplies.
Wash: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap.
Wear: Hats, gloves, scarves, socks, underwear.
Wow: A toy, a game, a teddy, or something special to bring joy.
This year, the organisation is partnering with Mr Price stores nationwide, so you can drop off your shoebox at your local Mr Price, or at participating locations nationwide between 1-10 November.
Got questions? Check out Team Hope's website right here for more.

To date, Team Hope, an Irish charity, has delivered over 3 million shoeboxes to children in Africa and Eastern Europe, and this year they aim to reach 200,000 more. For many children, this will be the only gift they'll receive this Christmas. And, if you think you've outgrown filling a shoebox just because you've graduated, you can think again. While you may remember the Christmas Shoebox Appeal as a school-time activity, is has grown far beyond that, and today it's a nationwide movement of generosity, having a real-impact on children affected by poverty around the world.
