Very sad news this afternoon. The former Newcastle United goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek has passed away, aged 47. The Czech Republic international suffered a cardiac arrest whilst out running ten days ago and has been in an induced coma since. The fans’ favourite had been working as a goalkeeping coach for Sparta Prague. RIP Pavel.

Amazing community spirit. Johnny Clarke from Newtowncashel, Longford passed away on Christmas day. Today, 28 December he was buried in Saints’ Island cemetery. But incredibly, the local community had to come together to carry his remains across a flooded causeway on a tractor to his final resting place.
