JOE is the biggest male-focused digital media brand in Ireland, reaching men on site, on social, through broadcast and at live events. And despite this success, we’re only getting started.

Focusing on best in class content, we continue to create a very new kind of media business that tells all kinds of stories across a wide range of topics like sport, news, fashion and entertainment, and on every existing platform including social, video, audio, live, Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram and being first to the new platforms…

We are looking for the individual who, as editor, can drive the development of the overarching vision for JOE. This includes formulating short-term and long-term goals for the JOE brand across all content platforms in collaboration with the senior management team.

This Editor will have a relentless commitment to quality content, an ability to understand nuances between different platforms and the hunger to unearth the next big thing.

This will be the best job in Irish media for one lucky individual.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementation of the vision for JOE based on the overall company strategy across web, social & broadcast, which is to provide the best user experience for our readers, listeners and viewers
  • Overseeing the reporting of all analytics, outlining the key insights and actionable items to improve all JOE content
  • Ensures a cohesive long-term strategy of all products
  • Ensuring the delivery of strategies for sites, social media, broadcast on content planning, tone of voice and audience targeting
  • Monitoring the quality and tone of all content on site and social media channels.
  • Liaising with development team to ensure that all products deliver a best-in-class user experience across all devices and outputs
  • Ensuring the delivery of a content calendar on a biannual basis in advance
  • Fostering an acute understanding of, and commitment to best practice in all forms of social media
  • Exploring ways of developing audiences on new and emerging platforms
  • Assist the Broadcast Director in the development and production of podcasts and shows that reflect the character and personality of JOE
  • Training, motivating and developing of team through building strong relationships with clear communication.
  • Working closely with the CEO in the recruitment process to find the best talent in Ireland to join the JOE team
  • Develop staff training manuals, including in-depth style guides, systems training and social media policies
  • In conjunction with the Finance Department, ensuring all content creation meets agreed budgetary requirements
  • Working closely with commercial units to explore opportunities to continue the commercial success of the JOE brand in line with business objectives, while striving to maintain commitment to quality and credibility of all content
