Investigating Gardaí have arrested a man in his fifties and two women in their thirties in connection with the arson attack and murder of four people at 7 Birch avenue, Birchwood, Waterford.
Four members of the English family died in Waterford City shortly after 5am on Tuesday, 13th October. An attack that has shocked the nation.
Kim English, Philip English and their sons Callum (12) and Jayden (9) died at home in the Birchwood estate at 5am on Tuesday morning. Two more children are in hospital.
All three people are currently detained under section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007 at Garda Stations in the Garda Eastern region.
An Garda Síochána continue to appeal to any person if you have any information on the murderous arson attack please speak to the Garda investigation team at Waterford Garda station or contact the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or speak with any member of An Garda Síochána that you know.
An alleged petrol bomb attack targeted the property with the sleeping family inside.
It's understood gardai are investigating another attempted arson attack on the family home in recent weeks.
A relative of murdered Philip English, who died alongside his wife Kim and two of their sons, owed drug-debts to two different gangs.
Philip and his wife Kim appeared to be on the hook for the money, despite never agreeing that they would pay it.
It was revealed by Philip's son John James last week, that the fire attack that took the family's lives was not the first intimidatory attack on them or their relatives.
An incident room has been set up at Waterford Garda Station and a senior investigating officer (SIO) has been appointed. Family Liaison Officers have also been appointed.
