Three small dogs stolen after being seized at Dublin Airport

Three Pomeranians have been stolen just hours after they were seized by Customs at Dublin Airport.

Customs officers at the airport detained the animals over problems with their paperwork.

The dogs were then taken to Lissenhall Kennels to be held in quarantine, as is standard procedure.

However, later that night, thieves broke into the premises and took all three dogs.

The poms were the only dogs taken in the theft.

The animals' disappearance is now being investigated by gardai at Swords Garda Station.

Speaking on the incident a garda spokesperson said: “Gardai are investigating a burglary that occurred at a premises in Swords, County Dublin on the night of September 2 2026.

“Investigations are ongoing at this time.”

Members of the public have been urged to keep an eye out for any Pomeranians that may have recently appeared in the area and to pass on any information to gardai.

The dogs’ microchips have since been flagged.

There are now serious concerns for the welfare of the animals amid fears they could instead be kept for breeding.

Pomeranians can be sold for up to €2,000 in Ireland due to their popularity.
