Ryan Tubridy has confirmed he and his wife, Dr Clare Kambamettu, are expecting their first child together.
The good news had been reported by several outlets, with the presenter confirming it himself on Instagram yesterday evening.
Tubridy wrote: "Thank you for the kind and thoughtful well wishes about our impending arrival, they mean a lot."
The 53-year-old former Late Late presenter and the 42-year-old clinical psychologist tied the knot in Connemara last December.
The child will be a sibling to Tubridy's two daughters with Anne Marie Power, Ella, 27, and Julia, 21.
This news comes shortly after the ex-RTÉ star hinted and a career pivot to politics.
Tubridy has politics in his blood, with his grandfather Seán Tubridy serving two terms as a Fianna Fáil TD for Galway West between 1927 and 1939.
At a centenary event for the political party, the presenter said he goes to bed "dreaming some day” of reclaiming his grandfather’s Dáil seat.
While it's uncertain whether or not the former Late Late Show host was serious in his comment, the bookies have already started taking bets regarding the potential career switch, with Ladbrokes odds at 5/1 for him to run.
However, the bookmakers seem to believe the Dublin man will go even further and stick his name on the ballot for President, with odds of 3/1.
When asked how he would feel about Mr Tubridy running for election, Taoiseach Micheál Martin commented: “He has the DNA, he has the interest."
