Gardai are investigating whether a woman who died after a balcony fall in north Dublin was pushed.

Kathleen Carey aged in her thirties was found seriously injured outside an apartment on Main Street in Belmayne, Dublin 13, on Monday afternoon and was pronounced dead on Wednesday.

She leaves behind a young daughter.

A garda investigation is continuing with officers probing how Ms Carey fell from the first-floor apartment after being seriously assaulted.

A GoFundMe set up in her honour notes that: "Our Kathleen Carey was a kind, loving, funny person who was full of life. She always made you smile with her quirky side she was an amazing person who will be deeply missed."

The Carey family has had five children die, the latest, her sister Natasha was buried three weeks ago following her death in September.

Detectives are investigating whether it was an accident in which she fell, or if she was intentionally pushed.

Emergency services were alerted at around 3.40pm on Monday.

Ms Carey was rushed to Beaumont Hospital in a serious condition and was pronounced dead on Wednesday.

On Tuesday morning, a man in his twenties was arrested and released without charge.

Gardaí are now preparing an investigative file for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to oversee the inquiry.

“A post-mortem examination is in progress, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation,” a garda spokesperson said.

“A family liaison officer continues to provide support to the family of the deceased.”

Forensic specialists have carried out a technical examination of the scene.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

“Anyone in the vicinity of Main Street, Belmayne, Dublin 13 on Monday, September 28, between 3pm and 3.45pm, who may have video footage [including dash-cam] are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí,” a spokesperson said.
