Although the late Steve Job's funeral only took place over the weekend, Sony have just won a heated Hollywood bidding war to bring the former Apple CEO's life to the big screen.
Before you rush to judgement about the timing of the deal, the film will be based on an upcoming authorised biography on Jobs, which will be released on October 24.
The book was penned by ex-Time Magazine managing editor Walter Isaacson and the rights reportedly fetched a seven-figure sum, reports Deadline Hollywood.
Sony have experience in the business fact-based drama sphere with the phenomenal success of The Social Network in 2010 and the recent critical fervour which the Brad Pitt-starring Moneyball has received.
The self-titled Steve Jobs biography is based on over 40 interviews with the man himself, in addition to over 100 conversations with his friends and family. The book was originally planned for a 2012 release but its release was unsurprisingly pushed forward.
The Steve Jobs movie isn't the only project in pre-production based on a high profile death this year - Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow is hard at work on the silver screen adaptation of the US mission to assassinate Osama bin Laden.
