Irish comedian Vittorio Angelone has apologised for making a joke about rape and incest towards a woman currently going through a rape trial.

Rebecca Goodwin is an English OnlyFans creator, influencer and mother who has appeared on multiple comedy podcasts due to her popularity and humour as well as talking about her charity work.

Goodwin took to Tiktok visibly upset to say she had been made aware of Angelone's joke on the "Have A Word" pod "roast" which took place last year but she has only recently been made aware of.

Angelone referred to her being raped and suggested she was a victim of incest.

Since the Tiktok, Goodwin says comedian Daniel Sloss who was present during the incident has reached out and apologised.

The Dublin Rape Crisis centre slammed the Belfast comedian yesterday, telling JOE, that it was not funny and dissapointing.

Anglone posted on his social media today (Wednesday) that he had apologised to Goodwin directly and was sorry "to all the people who are rightly upset".

"I let my need for validation supersede my own values and morals. It's completely pathetic and I'm ashamed to realise that about myself."

He said he takes pride in being able to talk about "difficult things" and "make them funny" but added "this is not one of those jokes".

He added he is not "apologising in the hopes that this all blows over" but that "you should do when you realise you've done something wrong."

He said he was "grateful" to be called out and will "do better in future".

Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has said: “Anyone with a public platform, including performers, promoters and venues, has a responsibility to consider who is listening and the harm this kind of material can do. To treat sexual violence as a joke betrays a deep lack of understanding of what survivors have lived through.

“Anyone affected by sexual violence can contact our 24-hour National Helpline on 1800 77 8888, which is free and confidential.”
