Aussie boffins may have created an alcoholic beer that doesn’t give you a hangover

Australia’s a bloody marvellous place...

Australia’s a bloody marvellous place…

As we all know, what really kills you the morning after the night before is the dehydration. That’s why you are advised to drink lots of water before going to bed and when you don’t, that’s what causes the splitting headache and a mouth like the floor of a sawmill.

But some geniuses in Australia have come up with a way to combat the dehydrating effects of beer, perhaps ending the dreaded hangover forever.

The Brisbane Times reports that Griffith University’s health institute have found a way to hugely increase the hydrating effects of a pint.

With a nod to what has been going on in sports drinks for years, they added loads of electrolytes to beer and made it much more refreshing and much less dehydrating.  They also reduced the alcohol levels a little, and, most importantly, managed to keep the taste intact.

Professor Ben Desbrow, the man behind the research, is quoted as saying: “If you’re going to live in the real world, you can either spend your time telling people what they shouldn’t do, or you can work on ways of reducing the danger of some of these socialised activities.”

The next step is to get a brewer to manufacture the magical new drink and then the world of the hangover will be banished, or at least diminished, forever.

Thank you Australia, thank you so much…
