25 further deaths and 480 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Ireland

There have now been 287 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland.

25 more people have died from Covid-19 in Ireland and 480 new cases have been confirmed by the Department of Health on Friday evening (10 April).

It brings the total number of deaths in Ireland to 287 and the total number of confirmed cases to 7,054.

Of the 25 confirmed deaths, 14 were male and 11 were female. 16 of the 25 had an underlying condition and the median age was 82.

10 people were confirmed dead in the last 24 hours in Northern Ireland, bringing the Covid-19 death toll in Northern Ireland to 92 and the island-wide death toll to 379.

The announcement comes on the same day that Taoiseach Leo Varadkar confirmed that guidelines in place to combat the spread of Covid-19 will be extended for another three weeks, until Tuesday 5 May.

It was also announced on Friday that, subject to public health advice, Leaving Cert exams would be held in late July/early August and that Junior Cert exams will be cancelled in favour of in-school exams at the start of the new school year.
