Easy Exercise of the Week: Overhead Dumbbell Press

This will strengthen the shoulders.

The overhead dumbbell press increases strength throughout the entire shoulder region.

Doing this exercise from the standing position will actively engage the core throughout the range of motion.

Instructions:

  • Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your knees slightly bent.
  • Hold a pair of dumbbells just outside your shoulders with your arms bent and palms facing each other.
  • Push both dumbbells up until they are overhead and your arms are straight.
  • Pause, then lower the dumbbells under control back to the starting position.
