Give the druggies more drugs says one Senator

The Independent Senator Dr John Crown has called on the government to help drug addicts by giving them… more drugs?

It may sound a little backwards, but giving drug addicts drugs ‘under certain medical circumstances’ might be a good way to clean the country’s streets of crime - and druggies – according to the Independent Senator and Doctor, John Crown.

According to Dr Crown, the idea is something that the Government should seriously consider. It’s a move that other European countries have debated about in the past, however the idea of the government handing out drugs on taxpayers money may not go down too well with the rest of the 'generally sober' public.

Dr Crown said: "There are as many heroin addicts in Dublin as there were in the height of the boom. Heroin addiction, which is really the fuel that provides the money for criminality in this country, comes from narcotics and heroin.

"I believe we should provide the drugs in medical circumstances to register drug addicts that will take them off the streets and decrease crime."

Well, in fairness, it's probably not the worst idea to be thrown out there.
