Health charity advises that the way to get thin is by eating fat – and avoiding these four phrases

Carl Kinsella

Great Britain’s National Obesity Forum and the Public Health Collaboration have warned that encouraging people to follow low-fat diets is having “disastrous health consequences”.

The forum has called for a return to diets that focus on foods such as meat, fish, dairy as well as healthy, fatty foods such as avocado.

The group released a report which claims that many full-fat products, particularly milk, yoghurt and cheese, can actually provide protection for the heart and lower the chances of obesity.

Instead it is products with labels like “lite”, “low cholesterol”, “proven to lower cholesterol” and “low fat” that we should be avoiding if we want to keep our weight in check.

The report was clear that sugar should be avoided, and that substituting exercise for a good diet is a bad idea.

Dr. Aseem Malhotra, consultant cardiologist for the group said: “Eat fat to get slim, don’t fear fat, fat is your friend. It’s now truly time to bring back the fat,” according to the UK’s Independent.

“We must urgently change the message to the public to reverse obesity and Type 2 diabetes.”
