One month to go. Up until this point I thought I was putting in a pretty decent effort, however, Dan has set me straight since getting back. The past 2 months / 8 weeks have been building me up to this final month. I’ve been building muscle and cutting fat so that this final month I can put in a maximum effort.
As you’ve read in my previous blogs, I’ve been doing three weight sessions and four cardio sessions, while eating three main meals a day with two small snacks in between and a cheat meal on a Sunday. This is all changing now for the first two weeks of this final month.
I’ve to cut my last remaining fat over the next two weeks so my diet and gym routine has drastically changed. Starting on Monday, Dan introduced me to giant sets. He’s been telling me about this for some time now and I’ll be honest I had to search what they were on Google first.
I’ve to change my routine so that I’m now doing giant sets Monday to Friday. I’ve to cut out the cardio in the evenings, but the giant sets are practically a cardio session in themselves. Giant sets target one or two individual muscle groups a day. E.g. Shoulders Monday, Legs Tuesday, Chest Wednesday etc.
It’s an absolute killer. I feel like I’ve gone back to week 1 – my body has been in bits all week. I have been waking up with different aches and pains for days, but in a weird sadistic way I like it because I know it’s working.
Diet wise now, Dan sent me through a sample of what I should be eating on a daily basis.
9am 2x chicken breast, handful of almonds + handful blueberries
11am pre workout supplements
12am take post workout supplements plus extra amino energy serving + lots of water
1pm White fish + Broccoli
4pm Tuna + mayo + spinach + egg salad with onions
7pm 2 x chicken breast, hot sauce + handful of almonds
9pm/10pm Salmon fillet + asparagus + handful of Brazil nuts
It might seem bleak but I’m never really hungry and it does help with the repair of my muscles. I’m probably not going to be much craic to be around the next couple of weeks though..
