A night of music, art, flair and, for some, a spruce up.
Movember first sprang up, like a burgeoning moustache, in 2003 and the Movember Foundation is celebrating its’ 20th anniversary, this year.
To coincide with a month that celebrates Movember, and the wild, wacky, neat or bushy moustaches that are on the way, there is an entertaining launch event taking place in Dublin city centre.
The whole idea behind the Movember initiative is to raise awareness and funds for men’s health – specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.
Other Movember drives, over the years, see folks holding their own own fundraisers or awareness events. You can also run or walk 60 kilometres over the month of November, to raise aware, or money, too.
On Thursday, October 26th (from 7pm), The Well, at St Stephen’s Green in Dublin, is hosting a launch event that promises to be ‘an unforgettable evening of community, creativity, and a dash of facial flair’. There will be a DJ spinning tracks all night with live art displays on show, too.
Here is more of the blurb on ‘Whisker Whispers’, which has been described as a launch event like no other:
‘Begin your Movember journey in style with an exclusive shave down station. Let skilled professionals groom you for a month of moustache growth. But the excitement doesn’t end there. Immerse yourself in the poetic magic of a typewriting poet, who will craft bespoke poems right before your eyes, based on topics you provide.
‘Your participation in this event not only promises a night of entertainment but also contributes to Movember’s vital work in raising awareness for men’s health issues, including mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.’
