Nigella Lawson somehow managed to annoy people with a recipe for tomato salad

"Please stop posting these tomatoes Nigella it upsets me"

You can’t please all the people all the time.

You don’t really have any obligation to either, and that goes for famous chefs posting pictures of recipes too.

Nevertheless, a number of people have got themselves in a twist over a recipe – or ‘recipe’, as they would very drolly say – that Nigella Lawson posted on her social media pages, using the hashtag #recipeoftheday.

The recipe in question? “Old-Fashioned Tomato Salad feat homemade salad dressing,” the caption on Instagram read. What’s wrong with that?

The problem, according to a number of commenters, is that this barely constitutes a salad, or indeed a recipe.

“This is a dish of cherry tomatoes cut in half, with a squirt of salad cream,” Samantha wrote on Facebook. “Get over youself (sic) for goodness sake!!!”

“Come on Nigella Lawson hardly a salad, more of a combination of the remaining items in the fridge,” Jalal added.

“Please stop posting these tomatoes nigella it upsets me,” commented Instagram user @aneeqagram.

“Salad? No it’s Poison Salad! Horrid red things,” noted tomato lover David said.

“Doesn’t look appetizing at all,” said a rather grumpy @casperwalt. “Don’t think I’ll have old fanshioned (sic) tomato salad for dinner. Munching on my tofu, fried in onion, garlic, ginger and chili sauce.”

Not all the comments were so negative though.

Dorothy hopped on Facebook to give everyone a dose of reality: “Recipe is about making your own salad cream. People so quick to jump on a bandwagon! Worry about North Korea, not tomatoes and salad cream!”

“Not sure why people would get so annoyed at a salad lol its not like you’re paying to look at this page,” chimed Belle.

And finally, from Marty: “Nigella Lawson, you have nice tomatoes. Everything you do is magic!”

The lesson? It’s always the same: don’t read the comments. No good can come from it.
