Day 8 Challenge: Read Philly McMahon’s “Fitness Fundamentals” blog post

In his first blog, Philly speaks about the three fitness fundamentals of nutrition, recovery and mindset. He also focuses on subcategories of strength, movement and body composition. He breaks down each section in more detail to help you understand its importance within the overall context of your fitness goals.

He points out the importance of having the right mindset when you’re trying to get healthy, both in terms of physical health and improved nutrition. He also focuses on the importance of the “power of choice” to help you retain a positive outlook and avoid negative thoughts.

The post covers the need to get your nutrition right if you want to get healthy. “You can’t out-train a bad diet” as the saying goes and cutting out bad food leaves you with two options – starve or be healthy.

Philly adds that recovery is “one of the most underrated aspects of fitness.” Training can take its toll on your body so he looks at the importance of rest, recovery and pre-workout and post-workout stretching. He also focuses on the best way to build strength, improve your movement and what to aim for in terms of body composition.
