PIC: Chris Hemsworth underwent an incredible body transformation for his new movie role

Wow

Conor Heneghan

From buff to barely there in no time.

We’ve no problem admitting that Chris Hemsworth is an impressively put together man.

This is the man who played Thor after all and as Home and Away fans will know, you don’t take your top off in Summer Bay unless you’ve something to be proud of underneath.

The family who trains together, stays together!

For a while earlier this year, however, Chris was an entirely different man, having lost a shedload of weight for his role in In the Heart of the Sea, a movie about the sinking of an American whaling ship in the early 19th century and based on the true story that inspired Moby Dick.

Hemsworth plays first officer Owen Chase, who along with the rest of the crew, go without food for 90 days after being shipwrecked at sea.

Poor Chris surely looked like he could do with a ham sandwich or two during filming; there’s definitely a Tom Hanks in Castaway vibe going on here.

Speaking about the punishing diet he had to undertake in order to lose so much weight, Hemsworth told Entertainment Tonight during the process: “I spend more time thinking about food than anything else.

“We have to shoot the really skinny stuff where we drop down to 5, 6, 700 calories a day, for a good three or four weeks and it’s going to be pretty uncomfortable, but we’ll be together in our misery.”

“When you’re already starting off lean, it’s brutal to chew through that kind of weight,” Hemsworth added.

“Every pound feels like a kilogram.”

Rather you than us Chris.
