Quit to Fit Week 10: Letting Go

The end.

And now the end is near… and so you face your final Quit to Fit challenge.

We’ve managed to make it through 10 weeks of challenges. More importantly, if everything’s gone to plan you’ve been smoke-free for much of that time.

We’ve asked you to try boxing, hiking and yogaing (is that a word?), to name just a few of the activities. Hopefully, you’ve had some fun as you opened yourself up to new experiences.

What to expect?

Our life expert Raul Aparici says that now “It’s time to finally let go; so you can have control back. You’re in the driving seat.”

While we can’t give you enough credit for making it this far, it’s important to recognise that this isn’t really the end. You have the rest of your life to live as a non-smoker. “It’s time to continue on the path laid down for you by your new healthy habits, a new lease of life.”

With that in mind, it’s a good idea to start thinking about what those new habits will look like. Whether it’s setting yourself the task of climbing Everest, or something more manageable like continuing to eat healthier. These habits should help to fill the void left by cigarettes.

The challenge

To set you off on this road, our last challenge is to ditch the bus or car and for you to cycle to work for a week. The benefits that come from biking to work are both plentiful and obvious.

Better for the environment, better for you and you’ll get to and from work a lot quicker. If for whatever reason, biking to work isn’t a possibility for you, you could try a spinning class at your nearest gym. All that matters is you get up in the saddle.

We know you’re most likely wrecked at this stage, so take a look at Lance Armstrong’s inspirational cameo in Dodgeball. If it’s enough to bring Vince Vaughn back from the brink of quitting his ball dodging career, it’s sure to work for you.
