Rubberbandits’ Blindboy Boatclub heads up excellent MindField line-up at Electric Picnic

Conor Heneghan

Something a little different for all the lucky people bound for Stradbally in September.

There’s always so much going on at Electric Picnic that the needs of everyone are catered for and those looking for stimulating, intellectual debate with a little bit of humour thrown in will find it at MindField at this year’s festival.

Inspired by the themes that have emerged from Ireland’s remarkable 1916 centenary commemorations and in the context of growing international turmoil, this year’s MindField looks to the future of this state, its citizens and our relationship with the world beyond.

The programme will also look at future states of mind that might help us better deal with the challenges of a new world order and provide better places for our children and grandchildren to thrive.

A host of events will take place throughout the weekend, including daily live satirical news broadcasts from the folks at Waterford Whispers News and the hugely popular Soundings podcast, hosted by Sharon Horgan and Dylan Haskins and featuring an array of special guests.

Blindboy

Blindboy Boatclub of the Rubberbandits, meanwhile, will chair the Twenty One Sixteen Parliament, and will also present ‘What the F**k is Culture Anyway?’ with a panel who will try and get a handle on what culture means to Irish people.

An Puball Gaeilge will be there to celebrate all that is wonderful about the Irish language, while the Dublin Science Gallery will return for their seventh appearance at the festival.

There is going to be loads going on at MindField at Electric Picnic 2016 throughout the entire weekend. For more information, check out the Electric Picnic website.
