Over 30 million people world-wide have had laser eye surgery and JOE takes a look at some familiar faces who have undergone laser eye surgery at Optilase.

Doug Howlett

The New Zealander arrived with quite the reputation when he arrived in Ireland as he was the All Blacks leading try scorer of all-time and one of the deadliest wingers in world rugby. His time at Munster can only be described as a huge success as not only did he add the Heineken Cup and Magners League to his glittering array of silverware, he left a legacy and fitted seamlessly into a tight-knit bunch of players.

The Kiwi has described the surgery as “life-changing” and only regretted not doing it sooner and it had no impact on his rugby as he was back in light training the following week.

Donal Og Cusack

The former Cork goalkeeper and current RTE pundit is another high-profile sporting figure who has enjoyed the benefits of laser eye surgery at Optilase and has helped him immeasurably on and off the field.

Donal Og has said that he had the obvious reservations about possible pain during surgery, but these fears were alleviated by the friendly staff and was speedier than he had anticipated, and has recommended Optilase for laser eye surgery to many of his sporting colleagues.

Brian Maher

Brian is of course no stranger to JOE readers having recently participated in ‘JOE Gets Ripped’ and has partaken in ultramarathons,  is another example of somebody who has had life-transforming laser eye surgery at Optilase.

Brian chose the WaveFront Intralase procedure and says the impact was immediate, as soon as he left the building even noticing things as simple as car registrations was a noticeable change. Brian too has recommended surgery to many of his friends and added that the speed of the surgery is just one of the many benefits.
