Are you looking for something a little bit different for your Christmas Day dessert? Is the standard pudding, trifle or custard just not getting you excited? Are you trying to outdo your neighbours who've delusions of grandeur with their baked alaska dessert?
Notions... people get fierce notions.
This Guinness milk shake is a little bit different but an easy way to shake up your dessert slump. The two main ingredients are vanilla ice-cream and Guinness, what's not to like?
While we say it's the perfect dessert for Christmas, we've no objection to this recipe by Chowhound being used year round.
INGREDIENTS (4):
2 pints (4 cups) vanilla ice-cream
1 (500ml) can Guinness Draught
4 tablespoons chocolate syrup or chocolate sauce, for drizzling
Semisweet chocolate shavings, for garnish
METHOD:
Place four pint glasses in the freezer to chill.
Place the ice-cream and Guinness in a blender and blend on high until smooth, about 30 seconds.
Drizzle one tablespoon of the chocolate syrup or sauce down the insides of each glass. Divide the shake among the glasses and garnish with chocolate shavings.
