According to Rhode Island’s Department of Health, between 2013 and 2014, cases of syphilis grew by 79% in the state, while HIV infections were up 33% and gonorrhoea cases increased by 30 per cent.

Social media and ‘hookup’ apps, like Tinder, are being blamed for the rise in STDs as infections are growing at a faster rate among young adults compared to the rest of the population.
CNN reports that the state's health department blamed "high-risk behaviours that have become more common in recent years," including "using social media to arrange casual and often anonymous sexual encounters."
So if you do frequent the app to find sexual partners, just remember to stay safe in the bedroom.
